Where to get the COVID-19 Vaccine in Citrus and Hernando Counties

Walmart, Sams Club, Publix, and Winn-Dixie pharmacies in Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion, and Sumter counties are administering vaccines to eligible individuals by appointment only. These retailers expect to receive 65,300 doses of the Moderna vaccine through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program in their first week. Check your county listing below for more information.

Demand continues to exceed vaccine doses and appointments are limited, please do not show up to a vaccination site unannounced. Follow the guidelines and directions provided by local county health departments or providers. As supplies increase, more locations and appointments are being brought online.

Eligible individuals desiring to receive their first dose are encouraged to pre-register. Once pre-registered, individuals will receive notifications when appointments are available in their area. For more information, visit https://myvaccine.fl.gov/, to preregister by phone instead of online, call the county number provided below.

Citrus County:

Winn-Dixie stores in Citrus County are administering vaccines to eligible residents. Appointments are required and can be made at https://www.winndixie.com/pharmacy/covid-vaccine. Hours and operations vary per location, please visit the pharmacy website for more information.

All 3 Walmart Stores in Citrus County are administering the vaccine. The stores will schedule appointments based on vaccine dose supply.  Appointments are not yet available, but once doses are received, an online system will be opened at walmart.com/COVIDvaccine and samsclub.com/covid.

Hernando County:

COVID-19 Vaccine Statistics

This morning the Florida Department of Health (DOH) reported 3,566,600 vaccines had been administered in Florida. 1,294,674 have received the first dose and 1,135,963 have received both doses. The number of vaccines administered to date in counties in my district as of 12:05 p.m. are:

  • 20,039 vaccine doses have been administered in Citrus County; 8,784 have received both doses.
  • 19,591 vaccine doses have been administered in Hernando County; 9,116 have received both doses.
