Free Florida-Friendly Gardening Hybrid Workshops in February
Citrus County Utilities Florida-Friendly LandscapingTM Program offers free gardening workshops each month.
This year, in-person events will return to the UF/IFAS Citrus County Extension Office, located at 3650 W Sovereign Path, Lecanto, FL 34461.
These workshops have a hybrid option for online participation. In-person and virtual attendees can view the 2023 workshop calendar and register for upcoming events at https://ccufflprogram.eventbrite.com.
Optimizing Irrigation System
On Tuesday, February 7, 2023, join Citrus County Utilities Florida-Friendly LandscapingTM Program for
a free gardening workshop on “Optimizing Your Irrigation,” from 2:00-3:30pm. Landscape irrigation
should be supplemental, but often accounts for 50-70% of total residential water consumption. Proper
irrigation practices, such as seasonal scheduling, catch-can calibration, and selection of drought-tolerant
plants are essential to creating a sustainable and water-conserving landscape.
Palms in Central Florida
On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, join Citrus County Utilities Florida-Friendly LandscapingTM Program for
a free gardening workshop on “Central Florida Palms,” from 2:00-3:30pm. Palms are a prominent and
often costly element in Florida landscapes. Selecting cold-tolerant palms, providing the appropriate
nutrients, recognizing deficiencies or symptoms of decline, and providing an appropriate control is
essential when caring for your palm.
