Easier winds to deal with is how the second half of this week will be. The first part included some super low tides with a northeast flow that was made for anglers in airboats or surface drives. Backcountry holes and deep creeks can be like fishing in a barrel if you can get to them.

There are spots that you can walk to on the Big Bend that can be fun to fish on a cold low tide day. A few lures and a couple dozen shrimp is all you need to pack, and the strong wind will make you thankful for keeping the no-see-ums off you. Most roads heading west of U.S. 19 have some parks and trails that lead to fishable water. It just takes a little exploring.

 This weekend should have some morning incoming tide to target snook and redfish on the outside points. When the tide turns out try deeper passes and points for snook.

The nearshore rocks are fun to fish for plenty of action with trout, Spanish mackerel, bluefish, pompano, and sea bass. Bring a few colored soft plastics to see which is working best that day.
