Mid Florida Community Services, Inc. (MFCS), is one of over 1000 other Community Action agencies across the country working every day to create opportunities and transform the lives of their neighbors making communities stronger and helping families across the U.S. thrive.

MFCS Celebrates 53 Years of Service

“Each May, during Community Action Month, we reflect on the impact that Mid Florida Community Services has had on families and communities,” said Michael Georgini, CEO of MFCS.  From October 1, 2019, through September 30, 2020, MFCS staff served 26,215 individuals and 10,525 families throughout its service area.  “During this time, MFCS provided immediately needed services such as: serving over 686,000 meals to hungry, low-income seniors; offering transportation assistance for our veterans to medical appointments; and, helping families meet basic needs like staying current with rent/mortgage and/or utility payments,” Georgini continued.

This year, MFCS, a proud member of the Community Action Network, commemorates 53 years of service helping individuals and families throughout Hernando, Sumter, Pasco, Lake, Volusia, Citrus, and Polk Counties.  “The longevity, success, and impact of this organization would not be possible without the hardworking, dedicated individuals I am blessed to call staff,” said Georgini.  “I thank them from the bottom of my heart for their willingness to serve.”

Community Action agencies serve 99% of all American counties with life-changing services to help families thrive. All agencies are locally-controlled and represented by the private, public, and low-income sectors of the community.  “We are proud of our communities’ participation in the development and oversight of our programs,” said Georgini.  “Their engagement helps us to be more effective in our approach by determining what our service area needs.”
