Call to Artists: In Touch with Nature

By Florida's Original NatureCoaster™ Posted on July 30, 2022

Brooksville Gallery 201 would be pleased to have you submit 3-5 pieces of your artwork painted or created while getting “In Touch with Nature”.

Brooksville Gallery 201 issues Call to Artists for submissions with the theme In Touch with Nature

Theme: Nature has been the obvious subject for art and art making since the beginning. This subject is vast in the way it has been interpreted by artists from the ancient into the contemporaries. In this series of submissions, the only requirement is that nature, in all of its glory,  be part of the interpretation or process. Nature is all around us and deep within us. While it can be easy to disconnect in these hyperreal times with all the various distractions, we are inseparable from nature.

Submission dates: August 22, 2022 – August 26, 2022 between 10:30am and 2:30pm.

Submission deadline: Friday, August 26, 2022 by 2:30pm.

How to submit: Please submit images of your proposals for approval by email (cityart@cityofbrooksville.us) prior to bringing them to City Hall.

Entry forms can be found on the Brooksville city website:
https://www.cityofbrooksville.us/275/Brooksville-Gallery-201 or contact the Brooksville Gallery 201 at 352-540-3811.

All approved pieces to be submitted in person at Brooksville City Hall, 201 Howell Avenue, Brooksville, FL 34601.

Reception: Friday, September 9th from 5:30pm – 7:30pm. Music & refreshments provided.

Exhibit duration: September 9, 2022 – October 21, 2022

Artwork requirements: All artwork must be gallery-ready to hang, with a wire securely attached to the back or bottom of your work. If the piece is not for sale, please state that also. Work by emerging artists is welcome.

Each piece is required to have 2 description labels, one attached to a non-visible side of the work (this is so we can track all pieces). The other will be displayed on the wall next to the piece.

Please create display cards for each piece to be displayed. The display cards will have the following information printed in this order:

  1. Name of the piece
  2. Medium used to create the piece
  3. Name of artist who created the piece
  4. Price of the piece or NFS if not for sale
  5. Optional: A QR code may be displayed on the display card – but it must serve as a digital business card. So, it can link to the artist’s website, store, etsy account etc. It cannot serve as a way to purchase the piece in the current exhibit at Brooksville Gallery 201.

Selling your piece: Currently, the interested parties will need to contact the Art Gallery Coordinator to connect them with the artist for purchase. We are working with IT to provide a solution through our website for future purchases which will also track each piece being sold. Thank you for your cooperation!

Contact: For questions, contact Art Gallery Coordinator, Pedram Moghaddam, at 352-540-3810 or via email at cityart@cityofbrooksville.us.
