Celebrate National Gardening Month in Citrus County

In observance of National Gardening Month, Citrus County Community Services will present Steven Davis, Florida Friendly Landscape Program Coordinator, leading a discussion of “9 Principles for Creating a Florida-Friendly Landscape,” on Wednesday April 3, 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum in downtown Inverness.

Celebrate National Gardening Month in Citrus County

The “9 Principles” include:

  1. Right Plant, Right Place 
  2. Water Efficiently 
  3. Fertilize Appropriately 
  4. Maximize Mulch 
  5. Attract Wildlife 
  6. Control Yard Pests Responsibly 
  7. Recycle 
  8. Reduce Stormwater Runoff 
  9. Protect the Waterfront 

Following the presentation Alice (Citrus County Parks & Rec) and Andrea (Old Courthouse Heritage Museum) will lead a session on how to design your own garden landscape, including creating a mixed
Florida Native Wildflower Seedball. Finally, attendees will have an opportunity to “unleash their inner
artist” and paint some stunning wildflowers with Andrea.
