Central Landfill (Lecanto) Opens expanded Recycling Center

The Citrus County Division of Solid Waste Management announces that the expanded recycling center has opened at the Central Landfill, located at 230 W Gulf to Lake Highway in Lecanto. Single-stream recyclables are accepted there from 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday, and 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM on Saturdays. There is no charge for clean recyclables brought to the expanded recycling center.

The expanded recycling center is located on the closed landfill site with its own designated driveway, approximately fifty yards west of the main driveway and traffic light. New signage is being installed to direct “recycle only” patrons to enter/exit through the west-end driveway. The separate driveway will make it very convenient for residents wanting to recycle only.

The recycling containers at the expanded center are immediately visible on the right side of the pavement and a turn-around has been created in the “recycle only” designated area. Patrons will exit the way they entered, through the west-end driveway. There is no need to sort clean recyclables as they all go into the same container.

Residents wishing to dispose of both trash and recyclables will continue to enter through the main Landfill entrance, weigh in at the scale and continue to the Customer Service area.
