Chinsegut Conservation Center April 2018 Programs

April 3rd 6:00-9:00 PM       Bat Photography: Join Alice of Green-fly Media for a special opportunity to learn about and photograph bats. Chinsegut is home to around two thousand Brazilian free-tailed bats which provide ample photograph opportunities. Learn about camera modes and settings for low light and fast motion as well as the laws pertaining to photographing these winged wonders. Cost $20.00 sign up on Eventbrite.

April 7th 10:00-12:00         Beginners Archery: This session is for adults only please. This is a free two-hour program with an introduction to archery skills and success. We will provide all equipment, bows, arrows, targets. Please register in advance at (352) 754-6722.

April 8th 10:00 – 1:00         Photography 101: This incredibly detailed and personalized beginner’s nature photography course gives

     Or 2:00 – 5:00 PM         participants lots of one-on-one attention and puts users in touch with the functionality of their DSLR camera. The cost is $20.00 per person, open to all ages. Register on Eventbrite or at Creative-Nature-Photography.com

 April 11th 5:30-7:30 PM     Archery for Beginners: This session is open to Children and families in celebration of Children’s week. Bring the kids out for some after school fun and be sure to visit other Children’s Week events around the county. This program is open to children and families (ages 6+), we will provide all equipment. This is a free program.

April 13th 10:00-2:00         Macro Photography and Photoshop: Participants will learn about Framing, Depth of Field, Focus Points and exploring different ways to photograph. In addition, Photoshop users will learn even more ways to express their photographic creativity. Workshop covers filters and actions. There is a $20.00 fee for this program register on Eventbrite.

April 13th 7:00-9:00 PM     Bats; Florida Bat Conservancy: Join bat expert and bat conservation enthusiast Shari Clark for a detailed look at bats of Florida. Shari is an expert in bats, bat houses and bat rehabilitation. Join us for this talk then stay to watch the Chinsegut bat colony emerge for the evening. This is a free program, no need to register.

April 14th 10:00 AM           Bird Gardening for Florida: Learn the best tips and tricks to attract more birds to your yard. This presentation offered by Hernando Audubon volunteer Linda will put you in tune with what birds are looking for in a landscape. This is a free program, no need to register. 1 Hour Program

April 15th 10:00-1:00         Photography 102: This incredibly detailed and personalized nature photography course gives participants

April 18th 6:00 PM             Butterflies of Florida: This basic intro to butterfly identification centers around those most common to our area. Learn how to make tough IDs and about butterfly families and physiology. No need to register for this free program. 1 Hour Program.

April 20th 7:30 PM             Firefly Night Hike: Leave the jars at home but bring the kids along to locate some of the locally abundant fireflies at Chinsegut. In honor of Earth Day April 22nd, learn how each person can contribute to the decline or success of wildlife through our actions by learning why fireflies are less abundant. This is a free program open to all ages, requires a 1-mile hike. 2 Hour Program.

April 21st 2:00-3:00 PM     Children in the WILD, Earth Day: Children of all ages are invited to stop in to Chinsegut to learn about native plants, look for pollinators and find out about actions everyone can take to show appreciation for the Earth. No registration required.

April 28th 8:00 AM             Walking Sticks at Chassahowitzka: Join this monthly hiking group to learn more about Florida’s wild environments and the way state agencies manage them. See some incredibly unique and beautiful places along the way. These hikes are offered at no cost, registration is required by calling (352) 754-6722. Hike runs approximately 1.5 hours.

April 29th 10:00-1:00 PM   Photoshop and Basic Photo Editing: Learn how to use Photoshop to edit your photos by using filters and layers as well as learn some creative ways to make your photos unique. Create your own actions for time saving editing! This program is offered through Green-Fly Media. Registration can be made online at Creative-Nature-Photography.com. A 20.00 fee applies. An additional session will be offered from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
