Brooksville, Florida – On October 28, 2023, the City of Brooksville hosted a volunteer event to clean up and organize the city’s supply of historic Augusta Block Bricks. In an effort to save tax-payer dollars, the event, suggested by Vice Mayor David Bailey, was held at the Department of Public Works on S. Brooksville Avenue. The clean-up was well attended, and produced 19 pallets of useable bricks for future road restorations and repairs.

Volunteers were supplied with safety goggles, gloves, and tools to remove asphalt from recovered bricks as well as provided light refreshments. In attendance were Council Members Christa Tanner and Casey Theiryung, Vice Mayor David Bailey, City Manager Charlene Kuhn, as well as other city staff, local residents, and employees from Tripeak Roofing, LLC.
