The City of New Port Richey’s Code Enforcement Division, in conjunction with the Police Department, took part in a community service outreach project on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

City of New Port Richey Hosts Day of Service Project

The goal of the service project was to raise awareness on the importance of maintaining a safe, healthy community. Code Enforcement officers and Police officers performed maintenance at two city residents homes. Code Enforcement Supervisor Code Manager, Erik Jay stated, “Helping elderly, low-income homeowners that want to get their property out of violations is a high priority for Code Enforcement to accomplish.”

City Manager Debbie L. Manns stated, “This service project was the impetus needed in order to have the day of service program grow so that it will encompass more employees in various city departments.”

The officers, along with City Manager Manns and Police Chief Robert Kochen, spent the day painting two homes.  Police Chief Kochen stated, “It is important that we build strong relationships with the residents we serve.  The homeowners who had their homes painted were extremely appreciative and the officers who took part in the project were glad to give something back to the community.”

City Manager Manns concluded, “This was just the beginning.  We look forward to performing these days of service on a regular basis.”
