Clue in the Parks Returns!

Citrus County Parks and Recreation announces a second round of the popular Clue in the Parks game – our own version of Clue!

Clue in the Parks Returns! Round 2 of the Who Dunnit Murder Mystery Game

Like the classic board game, which includes Colonel Mustard, Professor Plum, Mrs. Peacock, Miss Scarlett, and Reverend Green, our local parks version of Clue is a Who Dunnit, Murder Mystery. However, instead of the usual suspects, Parks and Recreation staff are potentially guilty (Don’t worry, it’s all make-believe, and you can take your kids out to enjoy the fun!)

The victim is the evil Dr. Covid, responsible for the pandemic and ruining playtime and sports in the parks this summer.  Parks Division is introducing a second week of the game beginning Tuesday, September 15 and ending on Tuesday, September 22. Clues will be placed in new locations for this second week of the game.

Here’s how it works:

Local citizen detectives walk the paved sidewalks and search high and low for laminated paper clues along the way. Clues are posted in four different parks and a total of 4 to 5 clues can be found at each park. Once all clues are found, investigators submit their answer, identifying the suspect, murder weapon, and location of the crime to Citrus County Parks and Recreation by email.

The first three detectives to submit the correct answers will win gift cards to local Mexican restaurant Los Magueyes and local ice cream shop What’s the Scoop.

Where clues are hidden:

1)            Central Ridge Community Park located at 952 Lake Beverly Drive Beverly Hills, FL 34465
2)            Central Ridge District Park located at 6905 North Lecanto Highway Beverly Hills, FL 34465
3)            Holden Community Park located at 4229 South Rainbow Drive Inverness, FL 34452
4)            Homosassa Area Recreation Park located at 4210 South Grand March Avenue Homosassa, FL 34446.

“I learned about a Parks Clue game through a national Facebook network called Women in Parks and Recreation- Brandy Fiechter, Assistant Superintendent of Parks and Recreation in Bluffton, Indiana came up with the idea,” stated Recreation Program Specialist Andrea Cuccaro. “When I reached out to her with an update about our Citrus County program, I learned that over 180 parks across the country as far away as Fairbanks, Alaska, have implemented Clue in their parks- making this activity an exciting national phenomenon and a fun way to get outside and while social distancing,” she added.

Citrus County Parks and Recreation also offers many more exciting programs including a virtual night called “Painting with Parks” to teach adults how to paint, a Virtual Open Mic Night, Virtual Trivia, Drive-in Movies, sports leagues, and more.
