The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum presents free events for children on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

Courthouse Museum Presents Free Children’s Programs in April

On Saturday, April 1, 2023, bring the kids to join guest hosts from Citrus County Parks and Recreation for “Dipping Off the Docks.” At this program, children will assist staff in dipping nets into Cooter Pond (across the street from the museum). They will then bring buckets of contents to the museum to examine microorganisms under a microscope and identify them with a chart.

Participants are invited to meet at the Old Courthouse at 9:00am for a guided walk to the pond.

Then, on April 15 at 1:00pm, the museum will host a free Kids’ Crafternoon, where children will create
their own “Illustration Creations.” Staff will teach them how to create a 3D image from their favorite,
illustrated children’s book. All materials will be provided – just bring the best book in your bookcase!
Space is limited for both programs.

Participants should pre-register by calling the museum. Children must be supervised by their accompanying adults during the entirety of each of these programs.
