November 1, 2023- If you drive down Highway 19 through Crystal River, you will notice very large, beautiful Christmas decorations have been mounted.

Crystal River Early Christmas Decorations

The question may arise, why so early? Unfortunately, the location where the City stores its Christmas decorations was severely flooded by Hurricane Idalia. The decorations were too badly damaged to be retained for future use.

City Administration made the decision to rent the decorations this year so the City would be decorated as usual.
Since we contracted with the company late in the season, the only available date for them to install the
decorations was Tuesday, October 31, 2023. The decorations will remain unlit until after the Thanksgiving
holiday.
“We are so excited to bring back the decoration and, along with it, the holiday spirit in Crystal River this year after everything our town and its residents have been through,” said Community Engagement Director Leslie Bollin. We know there will be questions about the timing of the decorations, so we wanted to share why they are up earlier than usual.”
