Live Music on Two Stages

Continuous live music on two stages with some of the regions finest bluegrass, country, jazz and Americana music. Here are some of the featured performers (Click band name for video). For a complete lineup and performance times, go to http://ranchdays.com.

Grandpa’s Cough Medicine

Blazing tempos, outlaw attitude, foot-stomping intensity, and acoustic wizardry describe Grandpa’s Cough Medicine. Their tongue-in-cheek approach to bluegrass music includes humor and dark subject matter in their lyrics, balanced with impressive instrumental compositions. The trio’s combination of flat-picked guitar, Scruggs style banjo, upright bass and two vocals creates a sound that can make a six piece band blush.

Hymn for Her

Hymn for Her have been busy touring across the country and abroad over the past few years, injecting juiced-up backwoods country blues with a dose of desert rock psychedelia that has been described as “Hell’s Angels meets the Amish.” Wayne (with the devilish voice), mainly plays the kick-drum, high-hat, acoustic guitar, and harp, serving as the group’s rhythmic driving force. Lucy (of the fallen-angel voice) delivers a gritty squall on her “Lowebow” — a custom-made cigar-box guitar known as “The Riff Monster.” Their young daughter is an integral part of the show, joining in song.

The Cadillac Bombers

That sound you hear is the reverberation of creator Teddy Boy’s growling Gretsch guitar piercing the sound barrier, slapping the doghouse bass to create a booming backdrop is Cory Karish. From out of the blue, those soaring vocals area gift of Kalamity Kat. Driving it all home with relentless momentum on the drums is the rhythmic endowment Johnny Grady. It’s not a B-52. It’s a bodacious band!

Have Gun Will Travel

With a natural instinct for combining folk, pop, rock and classic country influences to create a sound all their own, Have Gun Will Travel’s music “has a great energy to it with infectious, sing-along choruses and refrains,” remarked NPR’s Robin Hilton.

Their live performances have been described as rousing, rollicking, energetic and dynamic. Accompanied by the sweeping lap steel of guitarist Scott Anderson, singer-songwriter Matt Burke enthusiastically leads his brother Danny Burke (bass) and JP Beaubien (drums) through songs that run the gamut from foot-stomping front-porch spirituals to strum-punk rave-ups and more.

Mean Mary

Known internationally for lightning-fast fingers, haunting vocals, & intricate story songs, Mary travels the genres of folk-rock, bluegrass, and blues.

Mary learned to read music before she could read words and was an official singer/songwriter before she’d started her first day of kindergarten. With the help of her mom, she wrote her theme song “Mean Mary from Alabam’.” The press immediately baptized her with this handle, and she’s been Mean Mary ever since.

Exciting Shows & Exhibitions

We also have some pretty great educational and fun shows that include Lady Kitty with her Birds of Prey, Jim Mendenhall, of Rattlesnake Festival fame, with his indigenous and exotic snakes and reptiles – and our featured act is Tino Wallenda-Zoppe of the World Famous Flying Wallendas.

Tino Wallenda High Wire Show

Tino Wallenda has “walked over dens of lions and tigers, between buildings, across rivers, and over a pool that contained more than 50 ‘man–eating’ sharks.” With all the fame and acclaim, however, he is best known for his simple, yet powerful, message of fearless faith breathtakingly delivered from the high wire. It will be wonderful to witness his performance amidst the undisturbed beauty of the ranch.

Lady Kitty and her Birds of Prey Show

Kitty has always loved nature and animals.  She became a falconer in 1974 and has found a skilled ability to share and convey her message of appreciating the natural world through the fascination that birds of prey always inspire. She brings live birds for the audience to view and photograph.   Weather permitting, the hawks may be flown free to the fist, or a “simulated hunt” with a lure may be demonstrated.

Jim Mendenhall Reptile Show

Jim Mendenhall loves snakes. He teaches audiences to identify harmless and dangerous snakes in his entertaining and educational show. From King Cobras to Garter snakes, Jim teaches us how to identify and value the contribution that snakes make to our local ecosystems.
