Chinsegut Hill Archaeology Lecture Series

April 8 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Discovering more history at Chinsegut Hill are archaeologists on site.

For nearly a year, the Gulf Archaeology Research Institute team has been excavating the grounds around Chinsegut Hill layer by layer to offer us a glimpse into the lives of indigenous peoples, enslaved people, and early settlers. Archaeologist Gary Ellis has more than 40 years of experience and has contributed to the archaeological study of the Seminole Wars (1817 to 1858) and worked with the National Park Service’s American Battlefield Program and the State of Florida to investigate more than seven period forts and six major battlefields.

With so much territory to cover, Ellis will share his findings over three lectures at the historic property just north of Brooksville, Florida, with presentations from 11 a.m. to noon on Feb. 11, March 11, and April 8. There will also be time for Q&A. This program is free, though advance registration is required.
