Earth Day has been celebrated every year in Pasco County on the fourth Saturday of April at Crews Lake Wilderness Park – located at 16739 Crews Lake Dr., Spring Hill, Florida. This year it will be held on April 27th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
We are excited to bring back the Nature Coast Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society plant sale, upcycle vendors, ladybug release, and educational displays. Learn about many creatures with ambassadors from Dundee Farms, Florida Skunk Rescue, and Fox Tales Florida. Hits 106 will be doing a live remote from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
There will be a household hazardous waste collection onsite accepting items including lightbulbs, batteries, oil, gas and paint. The electronics recycling includes disposal of 2 TVs for free. Visit the Pasco County Household Hazardous Waste page for detailed information of acceptable items. Document shredding by Shred 360 will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a limit of 3 boxes/bags per person. Bring in old thermostats or thermometers to properly dispose of mercury and receive a $5 gift card.
The UF/IFAS Pasco County Cooperative Extension Service is offering two workshops at the event: Rain Water Harvesting at 11 a.m. and Composting at 10:00 a.m. Seating is limited for Rain Water Workshop, pre-registration is required for both workshops.
This event is a partnership between Keep Pasco Beautiful, Covanta Pasco, Tampa Bay Water, Pasco County Environmental Compliance, Pasco County Recycling, Pasco County Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources, and UF/IFAS Pasco County Cooperative Extension, and Pasco County Department of Public Works.
