The Hernando Harmonizers are a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, an international organization of some 23,000 male (and, just recently, female) singers who enjoy singing four part a cappella music in the barbershop style. The chapter was formed in 2001 by a small group of men in the Nature Coast area, some of whom were members of the renowned Heralds of Harmony chorus in Tampa. One of the thrills experienced by the chorus is competing at district competitions, where the members sing alongside choruses and quartets from all over the state of Florida. In 2012 it was the chorus’s great honor to be named the district’s “most improved chorus”, at the convention in Punta Gorda.
