Come to historic Floral City for a parade celebrating 14 decades of this beautiful community, followed by fun activities and open houses throughout the town square.
Old-fashioned games, dancing, period demonstrations of trades and arts, costumed docents and tours of the Duval-Metz house (oldest house in Citrus County). Acoustic folk music will be performed throughout the event.
Music begins at 10am and runs throughout the event.
At 11am, a community parade of residents and businesses will fill Orange Avenue with costumes, cars, strollers, carts, and who knows what else, with each entry showing off a decade of history. It is an opportunity for the Floral City community to gather and show off their creative flair, while celebrating the many historic periods this little community has enjoyed. Afterward, the library, historic museum, Duval-Metz house, and local businesses will be open to welcome visitors.
There will be a pewter Commemorative Medallion for sale (and given to the first 20 to register for the parade.) There will be a special T-shirt for the occasion. and a BOCC Proclamation and two Grand Marshalls for the Parade.
There will be long, community-style tables set up with a fish fry and smokin’ hot BBQ available.
Floral City was platted and designed in 1883 and has a commitment to celebrating this heritage. The event is put on by the Floral City Historical Council to celebrate the area, its founders, residents, and businesses.
