United Way of Hernando County will be hosting their Semi-Annual Dementia Care Seminar on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at 10515 Northcliffe Blvd, Spring Hill, FL 34608.
This free seminar is for families and caregivers focusing on loved ones with Alzheimer’s or Dementia. This highly anticipated community event typically takes place once a year in the fall, however, due to the high demand for caregiver support services, United Way of Hernando will now host their Dementia Care Seminar twice a year to ensure that resources and support is provided for families living and caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s or Dementia.
Often times, caregivers forget to care for themselves. It is important caregivers of all ages have a community behind them reminding them they are not alone. Caregivers will hear directly from knowledgeable guest speakers with first-hand experience, as they share tips, tools, and resources for the different aspects of this journey.
“If you are caring for someone living with Dementia, you need to be at this seminar. We will be covering the best standards in care communication techniques and more.”, shared Gary Joseph LeBlanc. Dementia Spotlight Foundation’s Educational Director, author, and longtime United Way collaborator Gary Joseph LeBlanc, will be presenting on the A-Z’s of dementia-related diagnoses as well as best case practices, communication tactics and strategies to handle behaviors that come with Dementia care. He utilizes his 5,000 plus days and nights of personal caregiving experience to help other Alzheimer’s and Dementia caregivers cope with the everyday challenges and emotional struggles of caring for the memory-impaired. Fellow guest speaker, Ursula Cutler, BSN, RN Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing with Chapters Health System will also explain valuable resources and knowledge in the field of Hospice with prevalent information on the benefits of Hospice and access for the patient and family.
Join United Way of Hernando for breakfast, while exploring a variety of health vendors from 211, Mid Florida Community Services, and so many more specialties. Attendees must RSVP to reserve their seat by visiting www.UnitedWayHernando.org/2023Dementia, calling the UW office at 352-688-2026, or by emailing Care@UnitedWayHernando.org. On-site respite care will be provided at this event by Always Near Home Care (please indicate your need when registering).
This health initiative is proudly supported by Dementia Spotlight Foundation, 211 Tampa Bay Cares, Inc., Chapters Health System HPH Hospice, Always Near Home Care, and HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital.
