Free Florida-Friendly LandscapingTM Gardening Workshops in July
Managing Garden Pests Wisely
On July 11, 2023, learn more about integrated pest management (IPM) for gardens. Correctly
identifying the cause of plant damage is always the first step to controlling an infestation. Inspection,
scouting, identification, selection of the least harmful control, and accurate application are important
IPM practices.
Drought Tolerant Plants
On July 25, 2023, explore drought-tolerant plants for your Florida garden. “Plan before you plant,” is an
important concept when developing sustainable garden ideas. Utilizing plants that tolerate sandy soil
conditions and seasonal drought, which thrive in the Florida sunshine, are choices to embrace.
In addition, there will be one evening workshop held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 6:00pm to
7:30pm:
Palms in Central Florida
Palms are a prominent and often costly element in Florida landscapes. Selecting cold tolerant palms,
providing the appropriate nutrients, recognizing deficiencies or symptoms of decline, and providing an
appropriate control is essential when caring for your palms.
All classes are held in-person at the Citrus County UF/IFAS Extension Building, located at 3650 W Sovereign Path in Lecanto. A hybrid option is also available for those wishing to participate online.
