Free Tours of Citrus County’s Oldest House

By Florida's Original NatureCoaster™ Posted on November 25, 2023

Recently, the Fort Cooper Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) became the latest support group for the non-profit, Duval Preservation Trust, Inc. (DPT). The DPT owns, operates, and is further developing, the oldest residency in Citrus County.

Members of the Ft. Cooper DAR will be serving as docents to visitors on Saturday, Dec. 9 from
10:00 am to 2:00 pm. They will continue conducting public tours one Saturday per month on January 13, February 10, March 2, and April 13. The public is invited to tour the Duval Metz house free of charge, however donations are welcomed.

Donations keep maintenance, operations, and development moving forward and are greatly appreciated.

The Historic Duval-Metz House is located at the corner of Orange Avenue and Old Floral City
Road, across the street from the Floral City Heritage Museum in the Town Center.

The Museum is also open free of charge every Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The Museum features an extensive exhibit on the Duval-Metz House and its restoration. The DPT welcomes other organizations or individuals who would like to become “DPT Supporters” by serving as docents one Saturday a month or by monetary donations.

Use a cell phone to scan the QR for donations via PayPay and for more information call Co-Presidents: Bassett at (352) 341-0064 or Beasley at (352) 726-7740.
