Free Class –The Shady Side of Your Landscape

Residents are invited to attend a free class, “The Shady Side of Your Landscape” on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at the West Hernando Library – 6335 Blackbird Ave, Brooksville at 10:30 a.m. Participants will learn how to turn a dark and shady area in their yard into a beautiful oasis! Appropriate plants and techniques will be discussed. The class will be presented by the Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, Lilly Browning. Free class. No registration is necessary.

Free Class –Storm-Wise Landscapes

Residents are invited to attend a free class, “Storm-Wise Landscapes” on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at the Spring Hill Branch Library – 9220 Spring Hill Dr. at 10:30 a. m. The class will be presented by the Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, Lilly Browning. Hurricane season is around the corner. In this class, we will discuss tree care and other issues related to storm readiness in the landscape. Arborist Ken Morgan will also provide information on proper pruning of landscape trees. Free class. No registration is necessary.

Rain Barrel Workshop on May 29^th

Residents are invited to attend a Rain Barrel workshop on Wednesday, March 29, 2019, at 10:30 a. m. The Workshop will be held at the Hernando County Utilities Building (Former Tampa Bay Times Building) 15365 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville 34613. Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, Lilly Browning will present the Rain Barrel Workshop.

To attend the Rain Barrel Workshop you must pre-register and send a check for $50 to HCUD – 15635 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville, FL 34613. Write “Rain Barrel Workshop May 29” on the envelope. Checks only accepted. Hernando County Utilities Customers who attend the workshop and install a rain barrel at their home will receive a one-time credit on their water bill for $25. All sales final. Please bring a vehicle that can accommodate a 55-gallon barrel. Attendance at a workshop is mandatory to purchase a rain barrel.  Please call 352-540-6230 for more information.
