Hernando County Sheriff’s Care Line Helps Local Citizen

Monday morning, Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the Heather subdivision after phone calls placed by HCSO Care Line clerks to a Care Line client went unanswered.

Upon arrival, deputies found the garage door partially open and made entry into the home.  The female client was discovered on the floor of her bedroom, having fallen off of the bed hours earlier.  She was unable to get up on her own.

Hernando County Fire Rescue was summoned to the scene.
The female was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Had this resident not been a part of the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Care Line Program, this scenario could have ended tragically.
Sheriff Al Nienhuis said, “This program provides daily checks on dozens of at-risk citizens in Hernando County.  When we are fortunate enough to find a participant in the early stages of an incident like this, it clearly shows how important this program is to our community and our first responders.  We shudder to think what the outcome would have been if this person had not signed up for Care Line.”
