Homosassa Inshore Fishing Report with Captain Toney

By Captain William Toney Posted on January 13, 2020

You have got to love this weather! It’s been some excellent inshore fishing for trout, redfish and sheepshead.

Look for trout in the deep creeks or flats that are still holding rock grass on the incoming tide. MirrOlure LiL’ Johns under a popping cork are working well or use a D.O.A. glow nose hooked jerk bait.

Redfish are on the western facing points biting on live shrimp on the incoming tide.

Sheepshead are showing up on the nearshore rocks and biting on fresh shrimp on a chartreuse 1/4 oz. jighead.

If you want some snook action, fish the docks in our bigger rivers. Skipping a D.O.A. 3″ shrimp back in the pilings will get the bite, and make sure to use a heavier leader.

High incoming tide will be early morning or late evening this weekend.
