Darkened waters have made some tough conditions for late season scalloping. There is a band of semi clean water that is just west of the Bird Rack and runs south to the Chassahowitzka Tripod that is holding some big scallops for those looking for one of the last trips of the season. Plan your trip on the bottom of the low tide phase to maximize your efforts to get a limit.

Trout fishing has been decent but not game on yet. The fish I’ve been catching are tight in a location, so if you catch two in a row, mark that spot and stay close to it.  A popping cork with D.O. A. glow 3″ shrimp  is working best for me. Marking the spot with your GPS will work but with changing winds and tide use a marking buoy to really dial in your drift. I use a bleach jug with 15 feet of line and a 1 pound lead anchor to mark my trout drifts. The funny part is how many of my anglers will hook the line to the buoy as we drift by, but a good drift will put you in casting distance, 

Redfishing remains very good. Look for jumping mullet and use a Eppinger Rex gold spoon to get the bite.

The nearshore rocks are good for mangrove snapper and big grunts.

I have not been catching very many snook but those that we’ve caught have been while redfishing.

High incoming tide will be early morning this weekend.
