The Citrus County Housing Services Division will be accepting applications for the Housing Choice Voucher Program Waiting List, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 1.

Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List Opens May 1

The waiting list will remain open until 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 7. No further applications will be accepted
after that date.

The Housing Choice Voucher Program is a federally funded rental assistance program provided by the
Department of the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for low-income households, especially
those meeting specific local preference in the following categories:

• Current Citrus County Resident
• Homeless
• 62 years of age or older
• Persons with Disabilities
• Victims of Domestic Violence

A computer lottery system will select 250 applications to be put on the waitlist. The preferences
selected by the applicant will be used in determining the position on the waitlist.

Citrus County Housing Services is actively seeking applicants from among those groups least-likely to apply, including the elderly, persons with disabilities and/or victims of domestic violence. Persons with disabilities who need special accommodation should call county Housing Services at 352-527-7520 for assistance.

Applications will not be available in the Citrus County Housing Services office and fax requests will not
be accepted. Applicants may use any computer, tablet, or smartphone with Internet access to apply,
including free use of computers at public libraries.

If you require assistance with the online application process, contact one of the following agencies: Citrus County Libraries, Daystar, United Way, Mid Florida Homeless Coalition (for those experiencing homelessness) or Family Resource Center. Those without internet access may submit a written request to the Housing office for a paper application in advance of the opening of the list. The request must explain why they are unable to use the online application. Completed paper applications must be mailed back to the Housing office on or before the date the list closes to be accepted.
