Hernando Audubon Meeting: Owl’s Nest Sanctuary for Wildlife. Sanctuary founder Kris Porter will explain what wildlife rehabilitators do and how they work to conserve and preserve native Florida wildlife. Hear about Owl’s Nest Sanctuary’s most memorable cases and learn how to help them accomplish their goals and save wildlife. A couple of animals will be displayed. The meeting will be held on Thursday, January 27, at 7 p.m. at Brooksville Woman’s Club, 131 S. Main Street, Brooksville. Masks and social distancing are required. Hernando Audubon Birding Trip to SunWest Park (Pasco County), Saturday, January 15. Meet at 8 a.m. at 17362 Old Dixie Highway, Hudson. SunWest Park has been developed around a former limestone mine creating a 70-acre spring-fed lake. It attracts ducks, shorebirds, gulls and terns. Hernando Audubon Beginning Birding, Friday, January 28. Meet at 8 a.m. at Chinsegut Conservation Center, 23212 Lake Lindsey Road, Brooksville.
