Live Oak Theatre & Its Conservatory is particularly pleased to announce that it is offering three different dance classes to girls and boys ages 2 through 7.

Live Oak Theatre and Conservatory to Offer Dance Classes to Young Girls & Boys Ages 2 – 7

  • Pre-K level dance is offered to girls and boys ages 2 through 4. This is a learning readiness program to develop motor skills and body awareness. Fundamentals of tap and ballet will be taught. The class will be held on Thursday mornings from 10 am to 10:50 am. In addition, a ladies’ combo is scheduled at the same time as the first pre-K class so that young children can be in class at the same time as their mothers.
  • Primary dance for ages 5 to 7. Fundamentals of jazz and ballet will be taught as well as basic combinations in rhythm and strength training. Children will also learn basic tumbling skills. The class is held on Thursdays from 11 am to 11:50 am.
  • Primary tap class for boys and girls ages 5 through 7 will learn basic tap techniques with emphasis on performance. The children will also receive ear and rhythm training. Class is held on Thursdays from 12 pm to 12:50 pm.

The above classes are taught by two Live Oak veterans who have spent the better part of their youth and young adulthood through the Live Oak system.

Jesalyn Mitten has been part of the Live Oak Theatre & Conservatory since middle school. In addition to dancing at Live Oak Theatre & Conservatory she also trained for three years under Miss L. A. Chuicchi of the Brooksville Dance Academy. Mrs. Mitten’s favorites are tap and ballet. Her work was particularly seen during Live Oak Theatre’s critically acclaimed production of The Little Mermaid. Mrs. Mitten teaches pre-K level dance to 2- and 4-year-olds and co-teaches the primary dance and primary tap program.

Lexi Allocco has studied jazz, tap, musical theatre, ballet and acro classes at the Live Oak Conservatory. She has been featured as a singer, actor, and dancer with Live Oak productions for the past 8 years. Her most memorable performance was that of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. Ms. Allocco’s choreography has been seen in several Live Oak productions including The Little Mermaid, Around the World in 80 Days, and Aladdin Jr. She has been relied on to teach classes and assistant teaching dance classes for several years. Lexi will co-teach the primary dance and primary tap classes.

Cost of classes at the Live Oak Conservatory is determined on a “credit basis.” Extensive information is provided on the Live Oak Theatre & Conservatory website. Visit www.LiveOakTheatre.org/conservatory.
