Volunteers, with help from Pasco County, remove 174 tons of trash!

Pasco County Government provided resources and Moon Lake residents and volunteers made their collaboration count, removing 174 tons of trash in just two days during the Moon Lake Community Clean-Up.  The annual event hosted by Pasco County Code Enforcement, Solid Waste, Public Works and Commissioner Mike Wells was held the weekend of February 23, 2019, and aims to reduce neighborhood blight.

“It’s great to see neighbors roll up their sleeves and take pride in a common cause,” said Commissioner Wells.  “Our Code Enforcement and Solid Waste teams helped volunteers make a significant impact on improving the appearance of the community  while assisting citizens in need.”

The Moon Lake Community Clean-Up was free for residents, with Pasco County providing all waste disposal and hauling associated with the effort. Volunteers cleared trash, tires, appliances, storm debris and more from neighborhood yards and vacant lots.

The Clean-Up is a proactive effort to combat code violations and illegal dumping in the area.

Cleaning up the county is a team effort.  Neighbors notifying Pasco County is the first step to getting rid of blight.
