More about Old Homosassa Community Day
Last week I posted about the third annual Old Homosassa Community Day that is being held on April 6th from 9 am to 5 pm at the Homosassa Civic Club’s festival grounds, 5530 South Mason Creek Road, Homosassa. I mainly focused on the musical entertainment and I wanted to expand a bit on some other events of the day.
Old Homosassa Community Day is an opportunity for our local non-profit groups to showcase what they are doing to help our community and for you to meet those that are making the effort. The event actually started three years ago with the yard sale that the Old Homosassa Heritage Council holds in the club house of the Homosassa Civic Club. The yard sale has been very successful and the funds have always gone towards improving and maintaining the historic Old Homosassa Water Tower. The group is continuing the effort this year and the proceeds will go towards landscaping and lighting up the tower. The organization has been collecting items for the past year and will accept additional yard sale donations on Friday, April 5th from 10 am to 3 pm at the clubhouse. You can email ohheritagec@gmail.com if you have any questions.
This will be the second year for the Arts and Crafts Market. Applications are still open if you would like a booth at the market. You can download the application at the website here.
This year a Cornhole Tournament has been added. It will be $10 a team with half of the pot going to the winning team. Registration is available up until 12:30 pm on the day of the event. You can get a flyer by clicking here or stop by the information booth that will be in front of the Homosassa Civic Club’s office and pick one up the morning of community day.
The American Legion Post 166 will have hamburgers, hotdogs, beer and bake sale goods available–all donations go back to Post 166.
Volunteers from the Old Homosassa Learning Center will be at the soda and water booth. All funds go to the many programs at the learning center including the after-school enrichment program, the Homosassa Ukers, and the Sew Cool! Workshop. All of these sessions are at no charge to our community members and attract people from all over Citrus County!
There is NO admission charge for the Old Homosassa Community Day and pets are allowed!
So mark your calendars! April 6th. Come and be entertained, shop the eclectic assortment of items at the yard sale, enjoy delicious food, check out the arts and crafts, play in the cornhole tournament and meet some great people! Another fun day in Old Homosassa!
