Citrus County Landfill’s Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Disposal Program
offers an additional Saturday drop-off day each quarter.

New Saturday Drop-Off Date Announced for Household Hazardous Waste Program

The next HHW drop-off day will be Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 9:00am to 1:00pm at the Citrus County Landfill (located at 230 W Gulf to Lake Hwy, Lecanto, FL).

As a reminder, residents who can use the regular Hazardous waste program offered on Tuesday, Thursday, and
Friday of each week are encouraged to do so. This Saturday collection is no different from the weekly
program but is meant to facilitate residents who work or are otherwise unable to participate during the
week. Please keep in mind that wait times will be longer on a Saturday drop-off day.

Assessed households may bring up to 10 gallons (or 60 pounds) of Hazardous waste for proper disposal on
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, or on quarterly Saturday drop-off days from 9:00am until 1:00pm,
for no additional charge. Every pound above those amounts will cost .35 cents each.

Acceptable waste products include, but are not limited to: paint supplies, automotive products, poisons,
pesticides, cleaning products, etc.

When arriving at the landfill, residents will be instructed to wait in line until parked in front of the
facility, then leave their vehicle with a receipt from the scale house. A faculty member will meet
residents in their car with a cart to move and weigh any product waste.
