Work on the parking lot at Rogers Park near the Weeki Wachee River in Hernando County was recently completed. The parking lot’s new innovative design will help improve water quality for the river.

Hernando County Engineering and Southwest Florida Water Management District worked together to design, engineer and fund the new parking lot, which is made of porous asphalt. The design includes swales to help channel the water during heavy rains.

Rogers Park is located along the Weeki Wachee river, near the Gulf of Mexico. Thousands of residents and visitors go there for year-round recreation.
