Pasco Commissioners Elected to FAC Board of Directors

Pasco County Board of Commissioners Chair Kathryn Starkey and Commissioner Jack Mariano have been elected to the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) Board of Directors.  The elections were held during the association’s annual conference in early July.

“I’m thrilled to represent Pasco County on this important board,” Starkey said.  “I look forward to working with leaders from around the state on policy issues that will help make Florida and Pasco County great places to live, work and play.”

During their two-year terms as elected members of the FAC Board of Directors, Starkey and Mariano will represent the local interests of Pasco County by overseeing FAC’s efforts and initiatives.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to serve on a board comprised of dedicated, talented public servants from all over Florida,” Mariano said.  “We plan to do great work as we represent our communities on multiple levels.”

“As elected members of the Board of Directors, a commissioner must be committed to representing the local interests and be willing to speak up for their communities,” says FAC Executive Director Ginger Delegal. “Chair Starkey and Commissioner Mariano have demonstrated these qualities and been carefully selected by fellow commissioners to take on this position.”

In addition to the election of board officers, FAC selected county officials from around Florida to serve on their executive committee.  FAC is also governed by five executive officers, six county commissioners appointed at-large, and past presidents of FAC.

Founded in 1929, the Florida Association of Counties has represented the diverse interests of Florida’s counties, emphasizing the importance of protecting home rule – the concept that communities and their local leaders should make the decisions that impact their community.
