Pasco County Hosts 24th Annual Earth Day Celebration

Bring the family for a day of environmental fun at Pasco County’s 24th annual Earth Day Celebration!  Join us April 27, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Crews Lake Wilderness Park, located at 16739 Crews Lake Drive in Spring Hill.  The activity-packed event promotes environmental education, volunteerism and a commitment to a greener community.

Pasco County Hosts 24th Annual Earth Day Celebration

The Earth Day Celebration features a Florida-native plant sale, upcycle vendors, ladybug release, children’s crafts and educational displays.  Presentations include Woodland Hills Birds of Prey and a chance to meet Spike, a 10-foot alligator from Croc Encounters.

Take advantage of on-site recycling and waste disposal opportunities, including:

  • Household hazardous waste collection
  • Electronics recycling (2 TVs free; additional TVs $7)
  • Medication take-back program (Expired or unwanted medication disposal)
  • Document shredding by Shred 360, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. (Limit 3 boxes/bags per person)
  • Mercury disposal (Bring old thermostats/thermometers and receive a $5 gift card)

The UF/IFAS Pasco County Cooperative Extension Service is offering two workshops at the event: Rain Water Harvesting at 10 a.m. and Composting at 1 p.m.  Seating is limited and pre-registration is required for each.  For more details, visit: bit.ly/EarthDayWorkshops.

Pasco County’s Earth Day Celebration is an annual event, and is a partnership among Covanta Pasco Inc.; Keep Pasco Beautiful; Pasco County Utilities; Pasco County Recycling and Education; Pasco County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources; Pasco County UF|IFAS Extension and the Pasco County School Board.
