Board of County Commissioners confirms Sean McGarvey

Pasco County Names New Libraries Director

Pasco County Libraries is entering a new chapter – and is thrilled to welcome our new director!  Sean McGarvey joins our team as Pasco County Libraries Director following confirmation by the Pasco Board of County Commissioners June 20, 2023.

McGarvey is a familiar face – serving as a Pasco County library administrator for seven years before heading to Hillsborough Library Services.

“I’m excited to return to the Pasco County Libraries team,” McGarvey says.  “Most importantly, I’m humbled and honored to help lead this award-winning library system in continuing its mission of bettering our community through responsive customer service and providing excellent materials and resources.”

Pasco Libraries was recently awarded Library of the Year by the Florida Library Association.  McGarvey will help the system continue to lead the way, bringing nearly 20 years of experience in library services with a unique specialization in information technology. Previously known for establishing the nation’s first library-based robotics team, McGarvey will continue Pasco Libraries’ dedication to innovation and education.

“We’re happy to have Sean back,” says Assistant County Administrator of Public Services Cathy Pearson.  “Our team is elated Sean is at the helm, and we’re confident he’ll serve as a huge benefit to Pasco County Libraries – and our community as a whole.”
