Sunrise of Pasco – Domestic & Sexual Violence Center Will be Pasco Tax Collector’s September Charity of the Month

The mission of Sunrise of Pasco County’s Domestic & Sexual Violence Center Sunrise of Pasco is to prevent domestic and sexual violence before it
ever happens. If it does, Sunrise is dedicated to assisting victims to escape those conditions and find safety and freedom in the community. In 2019 alone over 13,600 individual shelter stays (overnights) were provided in Pasco County.

“The impact domestic and sexual violence has on a family is tragic and the hurt caused to children living in a violent home can leave lasting trauma,” comments Kelly Sinn, CEO of Sunrise of Pasco County’s Domestic & Sexual Violence Center. “With the help of Senator Fasano, the Tax Collector’s Office and members of our community, Sunrise is able to provide safety and give hope to those most vulnerable -our children.”

“Once primarily thought of as an East Pasco program, Sunrise has expanded to provide services all across Pasco County,” remarks Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “Going back to my tenure as a legislator, I have been continually impressed with the compassion Sunrise staff and volunteers demonstrate to some of the most vulnerable women and their children each and every day. It is humbling to know that the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office is going to have this opportunity to help an organization that, since 1982, has helped so many women and children live their lives without the fear of violence and intimidation.”
Sunrise is seeking donations specifically to increase the funding for its children’s programs, including school supplies, meals, and recreational activities for kids in the shelter or outreach programs. Cash donations can be made at any of the five tax collector locations in Pasco County. For more information about the charitable giving program at the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office please contact Assistant Tax Collector Greg Giordano at 727-847-8179 or visit www.pascotaxes.com
