Pet of the Week – Barnaby and Gelato

By Meaghan Goepferich Posted on March 7, 2023

Barnaby (ID: A004056) is a handsome guy looking to find his place in the world. This 6-year-old weighs about 50 pounds. He is smart and a quick learner, though he can be a little scattered at times. When he focuses, you’ll see that he knows the sit, down, shake, stay and come commands! Barnaby is friendly and sweet, enjoying belly rubs. However, he’s a little more interested in sniffing and exploring than in snuggling. He does well in the car but could use some work on pulling on the leash. Barnaby participates in playgroups, enjoying a game of chase with other pups. However, he may do best in a home without cats or with a slow introduction. Like many middle-aged dogs, he could use a dental. If you’re looking for a lovable companion, make an appointment with Pasco County Animal Services today to meet Barnaby!

You can’t help but smile when you see Gelato (ID: A005011)! This happy boy loves life and all that it has to offer. He enjoys playing ball and running in the yard with short bursts of energy. He enthusiastically plays with other dogs, enjoying games of chase and some wrestling. Afterward, he’ll just lay back and relax in the sunshine, catching bugs and watching the world go by. Gelato knows the sit, shake, down, stay and come commands, and he walks well on a leash. He also takes treats gently, though at over 90 pounds, he shouldn’t have too many! A healthy diet and exercise plan should help to get him into tip-top shape. Gelato is a sweet, lovable guy who likes to be in your lap. At 8 years old, he does have a couple of age-related concerns like arthritis and a need for dental work. Pasco County Animal Services staff would be happy to discuss these with you. Make an appointment today to meet Gelato, and you’ll be sure to fall in love!
