Pasco County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources (PRNR) is bringing the power of positive coaching to its summer day camp leaders through expanded education and training.  Thanks to a generous grant from the SunTrust Foundation, PRNR is partnering with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) to train and certify staff at five Pasco County summer day camp locations this year.

“This collaboration is an exceptional fit with our shared focus on the youth we serve in Pasco County,” said PRNR Director Keith Wiley.  “A positive culture sets the stage for character development and a great camp experience.”

The Positive Coaching Alliance’s mission is to transform youth culture into a Development Zone® where all children have a positive, character-building experience that results in better athletes, and better people.

Parks’ team members at five sites are now fully PCA certified as a Double-Goal Coach®, a training that emphasizes the important role summer day camp leaders and coaches play in the development of children into young adults.  The PCA program will allow staff to interact with campers at five locations through weekly lessons and daily positive circles that focus on character development.

Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources hopes to expand this program to all summer day camp locations in the future. For more information about our summer day camp opportunities, please call 813.929.1229
