The City of Crystal River Kicks off its Centennial Celebration

By Florida's Original NatureCoaster™ Posted on April 18, 2023

The City of Crystal River is celebrating its centennial for the 100 days from April 5, 2023, to July 3, 2023.

The City kicked off festivities on March 25 with a cocktail reception at the Historic Pump House and a Centennial pop-up exhibit unveiling. Hundreds of invitees, including City dignitaries, residents, and centennial committee members attended the event. The celebration included live music from Retro Underground, food and drinks provided by many downtown businesses, and the unveiling of the centennial pop-up exhibit that included a timeline and artifacts gathered to showcase the last 100 years in Crystal River.

The Centennial Celebration includes a special event series within the 100 days to honor the City of Crystal River’s past, celebrate is present, and look forward to the future. Events will include a Music Under the Stars experience with a proclamation reading at the historic old City Hall and Coastal Heritage Museum, a golf cart and bike parade, and an event at Kings Bay Park, ending with fireworks over the bay.

The July 3 event will replace the City’s traditional 4th of July celebration this year. Other items included with the celebration include a historical manatee scavenger hunt, a historical coloring book designed with the Crystal River Primary students, and a temporary rebranding of the City with the Centennial logo.

Events and Marketing Director, Leslie Bollin, who is heading up the celebrations for the City of Crystal River, said, “The events included in the Centennial celebration were designed to honor our City’s past and celebrate the beauty of what we have. It has been a year’s worth of planning from a dedicated group of individuals who love and value this community. We are lucky to be led by such a strong group of Councilmembers, staff, and residents who are moving the City forward into the next 100 years and for future generations.”

The pop-up exhibit will be open during First Fridays and other events at Town Square through July 3, 2023.
