The holidays are upon us once again but this year has been different, very, very different. 2020 has been a year of ups and downs, of loss and hope, of bending but never breaking.

The Holidays Need Your Help

The County of Citrus, like the rest of America, has been hit hard and we are still desperately looking for a light at the end of this very long tunnel.
While the We Care family has seen its share of struggles, we have also seen what makes Citrus County shine. When this pandemic hit in March, Citrus County stepped to the plate and took care of their own in ways we never expected.

We made a plea for donations and volunteers and as has been the case
many other times, you and your neighbors came through and allowed We Care to bring in additional food and household items, increase our mobile pantries, and helped us serve our neighbors in need as we have never done before.

In addition to our 2,600 monthly clients from all over Citrus County, we
were able to add mobile pantries and bring truckloads of food into neighborhoods that needed it the most. In October alone, We Care added an additional 17 mobile pantries serving an additional 2522 families.

We worked with our neighbors and agency partners to distribute an additional 218,203 pounds of product which equates to 2,182,030 meals. This is a record-breaking number of meals served by We Care in a single month. We were able to bring our trucks to Homosassa, Chassahowitzka, Ozello, Crystal River, Hernando, and Beverly Hills.

The need in Beverly Hills was great enough that we have made it a
permanent mobile pantry location. This is all wonderful news. However, the fight is not over. Holidays are already a time in which our clients struggle to put food on the table and keep up with their monthly bills leaving very little left for Thanksgiving turkeys, Christmas trees, and Christmas presents for their children.

We Care is calling upon you again to not only help us maintain our current schedule but add more mobile pantries throughout the county. This is something we can and must do together.
