With over 80 acres of oak trees, creek and lake, the rustic and gorgeous Florida Sand Ranch, formerly the Sertoma Youth Ranch, has over 200 water/electric sites with 30-amp service, permanent bathhouse with restrooms, showers and dump station. Plenty of space to spread out under the stars while you are tent camping in our primitive areas, but easily accessible to the bathhouse. Campfires are allowed and the park is pet friendly, so you don’t have to leave your dogs at home! The covered stage and seating area lends itself to an intimate gathering of like-minded music lovers with large dance area.
The Will McLean Foundation now owns and runs the former Sertmoa Youth Ranch. It is often said that when one door closes another one opens. The property has been renamed “Florida Sand Music Ranch” in tribute to Will McLean, who wrote the song “Florida Sand.” For more about Will McLean visit https://willmclean.com/
The campground itself will not close and it is expected that the same events hosted there in the past, particularly music festivals and youth programs, will continue in the future under the Will McLean Foundation. The Ranch property is a favorite outdoor entertainment and activities venue, and the Will McLean Foundation looks forward to carrying on that legacy.
Formed in 1990, the Will McLean Foundation, like Sertoma, is an all-volunteer organization. Its mission to “save Florida through music” tracks the legacy of its namesake, Will McLean, Florida’s Troubadour, who wrote thousands of songs about his native land and was committed to the protection of its history, heritage, and natural resources. The Foundation created in his honor keeps his memory alive through their annual Will McLean Music Festival which features the finest of Florida’s own songwriters, musicians, and artists. In addition, the Will McLean Foundation hosts concert events, like its monthly Sunday Sampler series in Dunnellon, awards educational scholarships to Florida’s youth, works to organize and promote youth education programs, and provides sponsorships to other nonprofit events and organizations that further these charitable objectives.
