Water Expo is Well-Attended
The third week in March was the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) “Fix a Leak Week.”
Water Expo is Well-Attended
To celebrate, Citrus County Utilities and the Sugarmill Woods Civic Association partnered to host their 14th Annual Water Expo. Nine experts representing the County, Sugarmill Woods Civic Association, Southwest Florida Water Management District, and University of Florida Extension Services advised on topics such as leak detection, healthy grass heights, proposed development, and water use targets.
“It’s important to engage with residents, offer water-saving options, and set realistic expectations moving
into the future,” said Debra Burden, the County’s water conservation manager. Exhibits adorned with
spring flowering plants were raffled off throughout the day to the nearly 100 participants. “The event was
a success,” Burden announced, adding, “there were lots of questions and smiles — all in all, a good event.”
