Zephyrhills Man Meets 911 Call Taker Who Helped Save His Life

A Pasco County 911 call taker who helped save a man’s life last month got the rare chance to meet him and his family during an emotional reunion Friday, December 10, 2021.

Jeff Hupp, of Zephyrhills, reached out to the Pasco County Department of Emergency Services asking to personally thank 911 Call Taker Rob Lippmann for saving his life.  “This Thanksgiving was one of the special ones,” Hupp said.  “I had a lot to be thankful for.  Not only Rob and the Pasco EMS, but everything,” he said.

Lippmann was working in our 911 Communnications Center November 3, 2021, when the call came in.  The caller told Lippmann her son-in-law was acting strangely, and his eyes rolled back into his head.  Lippmann used calm, comforting statements to assure the family help was on the way.  When the caller frantically told Lippmann that Hupp wasn’t breathing, Lippmann immediately began CPR instructions, guiding the family through the scary moments, and counting compressions with them until paramedics arrived.

“It’s an honor and very humbling to me,” Lippmann said about meeting Hupp.  “I’m glad we had a positive outcome.”

Lippmann began working as a Pasco County Emergency Services Communications Officer in 2018.  Before that, he served as a police chief for more than 20 years.
